Diamond Sponsors Librarian and Educator Day at Toronto Comic Arts Festival

The Toronto Comic Arts Festival (TCAF) was first created by The Beguiling organization by Peter Birkemoe and Chris Butcher in 2003. TCAF is a free-admission event and focuses on alternative and independent comics as well as other creative arts. It is modeled after European festivals such as Angoulême and the American Small Press Expo rather than traditional comics conventions. The goal of the festival is to "present the quality and presitge ... local and international artists in a package that's respected and recognized." The 2017 festival will be held on May 13-14 at [LOCATION]

Prior to this year's convention and marking their sixth year, The Beguiling Library Services and TCAF will be hosting Librarian & Educator Day 2017 (L&ED), May 12 from 8am-4pm at the Toronto Reference Library in Bram & Bluma Appel Salon. L&ED is a full day of professional programming created to help make the most of the comic and graphic novel medium in libraries and schools.

The day starts with coffee and browsing of a curated selection of graphic novels for sale provided by the Beguilling Library Services then leads into a speech by the L&ED keynote speaker. Panels, presentations, and discussions will then take place throughout the rest of the day. In order to register for the event, please visit the official page here.

This year, Diamond BookShelf and Diamond Book Distributors will be part of the sponsors helping make L&ED a success. Along with sponsoring L&ED, Diamond will also be supporting TCAF and Image Comics to host a special two-day event to celebrate Image's 25th anniversary.

The Image 25th Anniversary Party will take place at the Masoni Temple on May 13 from 10a-5pm and May 14 from 11am-5pm, and will feature both all-day exhibitors, timed creator signings, panel discussions, live drawing, a special "talk show" segment and much more! Admission to the Image 25th Anniversary Party is free.

Several creators will be attending the party including Charlie Adlard (THE WALKING DEAD), Marjorie Liu (MONSTRESS), Sana Takeda (MONSTRESS), Ivan Brandon (BLACK CLOUD), Wes Craig (DEADLY CLASS), Valentine DeLandro (BITCH PLANET), Meredith Gran (OCTOPUS PIE), Leslie Hung (SNOTGIRL), Bryan Lee O'Malley (SNOTGIRL), Jason Latour (LOOSE ENDS), and Jeff Lemire (ROYAL CITY).
