Announcements from Image Comics:

Image Comics/Skybound Entertainment revealed the ominous cover artwork for the forthcoming The Walking Dead #175 by writer Robert Kirkman and artist Charlie Adlard, heralding a jaw-dropping new story arc with all new friends, all new enemies, all new threats, and will appropriately be called “New World Order.

Issue #25 will mark the beginning of The Walking Dead Volume 30. A release date for the graphic novel will be announced early 2018.


Robert Kirkman also announced his new series with artist Lorenzo De Felici, Oblivion Song.

Among the new Image series announced at the show:

  • Analog, a post-fascist ongoing series of the great crash of the information age written by Gerry Duggan with art by David O’Sullivan.
  • Bingo Love, an original graphic novel about two Queer, Black women and the love between them that spans decades, written by Tee Franklin with art by Jenn St-Onge, and colors by Joy San.
  • Gideon Falls, an ongoing supernatural/horror series in which rural mystery and urban horror collide from writer Jeff Lemire and artist Andrea Sorrentino.
  • Infidel, a  horror series that explores Islamophobia written by Pornsak Pichetshote with art by Aaron Campbell.


Announcements from Dynamite Entertainment:

Dynamite announced a new series relaunch of their popular Princess of Mars, Dejah Thoris. Writer Amy Chu (Poison IvyRed SonjaKISS) will bring the strong, iconic character back to the comics in the debut issue Dejah Thoris #0. The graphic novel collection for the new series has yet to be announced. Check out the video announcement for the new series below. Along with the new series comes a new Dejah Thoris statue inspired by J. Scott Campbell which can also be seen below.

Dynamite also announced the ultimate Battlestar Galactica series that's been nearly 35 years in the making - The Classic Battlestar Galactica team Vs. the New ones from Ron Moore and Sy Fy Channel! THE crossover project bringing together the continuities of both the classic 1978 and reimagined 2003 BSG series.

Along with the major crossover series event, Dynamite also revealed they signed a license for an all new Charlie's Angels Adventures.

Other announcements from Dynamite include: 

  • A TEKKEN art book based on the beloved fighting video game will join Dynamite's critically acclaimed Video Games Icons line, and is slated for release in 2018!
  • A new agreement with MGM Pictures to develop an original comic series based on the cult classic Pumpkinhead
  • An all new unique and enchanting four-issue children's fantasy tale, Robots & Princesses
  • Signing Meredith Finch (Rose) to create a new Xena: Warrior Princess series

Announcements from Lion Forge:

  • Lion Forge announced on the eve of New York Comic Con, Lion Forge has announced four new additions to its editorial department : Desiree Rodriguez, Erika Kuster, Hazel Newlevant, and Jasmine Amiri
  • Three new comic properties were announced at a Lion Forge panel including: The Wormworld Saga, an adaption of the popular digital series from Daniel Lieske. The series involves adventures of a young boy who can enter the paintings that live in his grandmother’s attic. The Wormworld Saga will be released in May 2018
  • In June 2018 Lion Forge will release Dinosaucers based on Michael Uslan’s 1987 cartoon series
  • In September 2018 - Upgrade Soul by Ezra Clayton Daniels. Upgrade Soul, which is an immersive science fiction graphic novel, will be adapted for print
  • Dr. Sheena Howard was present to talk about her experience writing about Jonah for Superb. Howard says it was really important for her and their partners at the National Down Syndrome Society, that Jonah had personal agency, that he was not defined by having Down Syndrome but was a fully emotional and complex character–the way all of us are.
  • Wrapped Up is targeted towards children and details the story of Milo, a 12-year-old-kid mummy. David Scheidt (Adventure Time) and illustrator Scoot McMahon provided illustrations and talked about the main character and inspiration behind the series. Both said the series came from wanting to provide kids with something they wish they could have read when they were younger. Milo is a child of divorce and the relationship he has with his sister is one that gives him strength.

Announcements from Valiant Entertainment:

Valiant began by thanking retailers during the Diamond Retailer Breakfast for making X-O Manowar and Secret Weapons best-selling books for 2017!


Hunter noted that the new Bloodshot: Salvation is planned so far ahead that if you asked them about the storyline a year from now, they'd be able to tell you what is happening. 


Ninja-K is set to be a great jumping-on book, as well as a prime milestone filled with first-time appearances. The graphic novel is slated for a May 2018 release.

Valiant also stated that Harbinger Wars 2 will contain every Valiant character ever, and a release date for the graphic novel will come early 2018.

In tandem with New York Comic Con, Valiant teamed up with the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund (CBLDF) to offer an exclusive fan experience.  Beginning at $100, qualifying fans can obtain an all-access tour of Valiant HQ along with limited edition Valiant comics, merchandise, one-on-one signings, and more with proceeds being donated to CBLDF.   • In the coming months TokyoPOP is bringing translated editions of both manga already released in Japan well as all new original works to America.
