Music Meets Comics With Valiant and Warped Tour Partnership
Vans Warped Tour, the long-running annual music festival, has announced their 2017 theme - comic books. Accourding to Warped Tour founder, Kevin Lyman, the partnership with Valiant Entertainment for this year's theme is "the most integrated collaboration" the festival has ever done. Both the artists featured in Vans Warped Tour as well as the fans who attend the festival often have "an affinity for video gaming and comic books," making the partnership perfect for reaching fans of the music and the format.
Currently, the events Valiant will be attending have not been announced; however, CEO Dinesh Shamdasani has mused bringing a live element to their participation such as creating a "comic book cover live" at shows. Valiant characters will be featured in the tour's merchandise and posters, and the publisher will have a convention-style booth with art installations at various stops. In addtion, Valiant will be releasing a special Faith one-shot comic book supporting the non-profit Keep A Breast Foundation during the summer tour.
Although comic book publishers and creators have previously appeared at Warped Tour, this union marks the first time a comic publisher has become an overall partner and contributed the poster artwork. The Vans Warped Tour is scheduled to begin June 16th in Seatlle, Washington and end August 6th in Los Angeles.
